The brand has been covered by shoe fans in the past year. It was founded by Petru Coca and Mircea Cioponea, who are best known for their shoe blog Claymoor's List. They have a showroom in Bucharest and a workshop at Brasov. This latter location is in Transylvania, Romania. Therefore, the use of the term "Transylvania" on much of their branding and communications. They made me split-toe derbys that were very comfortable and fit well. There are a few making issues and one more in the style I'll be discussing in a moment. These shoes are also stiff and solid, typical of eastern Europe. They won't fit everyone.
elevator sandalsIt's difficult to argue with the price: EUR1500 for a fully handmade, bespoke shoe (EUR250 is the last; so there's no charge on a second pair). It was also my first time having any bespoke done remotely, which is becoming increasingly common over the past year. It was interesting to think about and experience. Mircea sent me photos of his models affordable warm elevator shoes bestsale in different leathers and I picked between them. Some of the leathers were not available, so I was unable to find the kudu color I wanted. This is a problem with older models of shoes or smaller manufacturers. However, the Russian hatch-grain Russian leather I received from Horween had a split-toe derby, which I enjoyed, so we went with it (pictured above). I was asked to measure my feet in four places. Mircea received a video of me doing this (to see exactly where I had measured and the measurements). This was a smaller number of measurements than what a bespoke maker would normally take in person. Covid then delayed the process and we began again in June. A pair of shoes was sent to me, made from scrap leather and with a temporary, glue sole. The fit was discussed and we had a video chat. They were a cap-toe oxford rather than a Norwegian derby. It was overall good. Although there were some changes that needed to be made, it was a good start. The shoes were received in October and they were very well packaged. Mircea's shoe boxes are actually wine boxes made from Transylvanian Beech. He also included a bottle from Mosia Galicea's local vineyard. As a result, the box is larger than other bespoke shoes boxes and has a sliding lid. This is very pleasing. My initials were also stamped on the side of the shoe bags and cloth made from dark-grey tailoring fabric. Overall, the shoe was well made. It is well-done, with smooth transitions between the sole and heel and fine hand-sewing on apron. Some nice touches included the aged-brass aiglets at the ends of the laces. They were polished well, and had a darker color on the toes which brought out the charm of the hatch-grain. It was a bit messy around the welt with some dark and pale patches. The balance of the soles' uppers was choose elevator sandals affordable not ideal, as you can see. The welt on the soles of both shoes appears wider from the top. It is an important detail and it's something that I doubt anyone would notice if they weren't carefully examining the shoes. It's something I see in my high-end, custom-made shoes (Gaziano Cleverley Bemer Fukuda, Fumer, Bemer etc.) but not on factory-made shoes. Shoes are handmade in the same manner as any bespoke. hand-sewn sole, hand-sewn upper, and hand-welted welt. They're not the most bespoke. They are fairly straight, not rounded at the waist or pitched in the back. There is no transition from heel cup and stack. The waist is slightly cut, but not too tight, and the beveling is subtle. These details are illustrated in the post. Springline's sprung models of shoe choose elevator sandals affordable trees do not make them hollow or solid. These are both style and fashion points. A country shoe would not be suited for dressy touches. It does however make the shoe more like a high-end, non-bespoke shoe, particularly Saint Crispin's. Because the overall style is very similar, it is worth comparing Saint Crispin to. This is mainly due to the fact that both the Romanian and Romanian workshops make shoes. However, I believe it is worth looking at the style aspect of Saint Crispin's when you are considering Petru & Claymoor as a new bespoke option. It's worth asking yourself if you really need to add bespoke steps such as a hand-sewn sole. The look and feel of the sole is very similar with StC. The P&C shoes fit very well, which was choose elevator sandals affordable great as it was the most difficult area to worry about after so much work had been done remotely. While the fit through the shoe's back is tight, it's not restrictive. There's ample room for the toes to move. This is a trickier task with a derby shoe. I find that most ready-made derbys are www.shoesincrease.com comfortable for me (unlike loafers, boots or oxfords), so this is only an improvement. The sole problem is where the toes and foot meet. These shoes are cut very close and then lifted up to a tall toe box. These shoes are a little less comfortable but it also changes the appearance of the shoe. The creases are accentuated and the toe area is separated, as you can choose elevator sandals affordable see in the images below and above. The width of the shoe is the most important style issue I mentioned at the beginning. Mircea stated that he intentionally made the front wide to allow me to have plenty of space for my tiny toes. This was his biggest problem, as well as the issue with shoe fit in general. Although he was correct to concentrate on this, I believe he overcompensated. It has a very unusual and almost bulbous choose elevator sandals affordable front shape that I don’t think is apparent in the photos. When I received my shoes, I was both excited about their beauty and a bit surprised at the shape. Mircea and I had a discussion about it. He explained the reasoning as well as stating that it could be modified for a future pair. It is more elegant than the Saint Crispin's shape I made four years back. They have a similar last. Last but not least, the Petru & choose elevator sandals affordable Claymoor shoes have a very stiff feel. These shoes are probably the most stiff I have ever worn. This is partially due to the way that eastern European shoes are made. These are not your typical city shoes and they are purposely robust. It is a little thicker than the average calf leather at 1.8-2mm. The shoes have been worn about 10 times. They are becoming more comfortable, but they still feel stiff and tiring on my feet. They will likely take another 10-15 wears before they really start to choose elevator sandals affordable soften. The unusual shape and stiffness of the pair would prevent me from purchasing a second pair. They are very attractive to me, but I would like to see how they change over time and how it affects my feelings. To point out these details and see other options, I would love to meet Mircea. Although the team plans to attend choose elevator sandals affordable trunk shows in London, St Petersburg, and Frankfurt, they are unable to at this time. The look of other Petru & Claymoor styles like the chelsea boots above is what I love. A brown-suede-toe-cap would be a great addition to this style. My Saint Crispin's boots didn't work out as well. This is one area where P&C does a better job. However, I believe we need to meet in person to solve some of these problems. Perhaps that's the greatest choose elevator sandals affordable disadvantage to remote bespoke: it can be difficult to explain and fix any issues that may arise. It's possible to be fortunate and not have any, but the lack of knowledge makes it difficult for customers to fix problems. This is something that I am seeing in tailoring, and more about it soon.
